Tips to Saving Money on Makeup

Tips For Saving Money On Makeup

For most women, makeup is an essential part of the day.  Once you’ve showered and are dressed for work, the next step is to apply your makeup to make you look and feel confident.  Many women use makeup as a confidence booster and a way to highlight certain parts of the face that are most attractive.  But the cost of maintaining a look can add up, and being a woman starts to become very expensive.  Below are some tips for how to save money on makeup.

Raid Your Medicine Cabinet And Linen Closet

Most women have a spot in their homes where they keep old makeup that they didn’t like or quit using.  If you find yourself running out of options before you have the cash to purchase new stuff, raid your medicine cabinet or your linen closet to find those old tubes of lipstick or old containers of eyeshadow that just weren’t right before.  With a little bit of creativity, you can quickly turn colors that you didn’t originally like into something that flatters your coloring and highlights your best features.

Use Cheaper Brands

There is a wide range of prices between different makeup brands, and you typically will have the choice of which ones to use.  While the more expensive brands may offer you more choices as far as colors, they don’t always provide you with the highest quality product.  The reality is if you can’t afford the expensive brand, you’ll need to go for something less expensive.  Try downgrading to your grocery store brand for a few months.  You never know, you may even find you like it better and save money in the future.

Use Coupons

The process of using coupons has become an art over the last few years.  Many women have found ways to buy makeup and toiletries for pennies.  You can save large sums of money every month if you plan ahead and look for coupons for items that you need.  But remember that in order to make this most effective, you must stay organized.  Keep track of your coupons, and remember that you may have to buy things before you need them.  Store them in your medicine cabinet until they become necessary, and you won’t have to spend the money the next time you run out of eye makeup or concealer.

Collect Samples

Many makeup stores will give out samples with the hopes of turning you on to their product.  You shouldn’t spend money on any product until you have had a chance to sample it first.  If you find yourself out of makeup and waiting for your next paycheck, visit the local mall or grocery store to try out some samples of whatever you are in need of.  Also use samples that you have previously been given until you can decide what you want, and until you have the money to buy it.

Save Your Money

As money becomes tighter, things like makeup become more of an extravagance than a need.  When you find yourself in this situation, it’s not necessary to go without the makeup that you use every day to give yourself confidence and to feel good about yourself.  Use these tips to help you save money on everything from makeup to toilet paper to soap.  You can never go wrong when you are saving money.

  1. Those are some great ideas! I especially love the part about collecting samples... I thought I was the only person that saved those little things. lol
Another thing I like to do is raid my Mom's old makeup. She has sensitive skin and usually has trouble wearing new stuff, so I get all her "fails". It's awesome!
    Great post!
    Thanks for the good info!

  3. Nice tips. I've found there are several things I can use the "off" brand on and they work just the same. Also, I've scored some great deals in the past using coupons on makeup, I really need to get back into that.
